[Solved] Favicon Upload Button Not Showing in New Blogger Layout | Blogger New Favicon Method

Hey Geeky Bloggers! There’s an update in the Blogger dashboard and I am totally satisfied with the update done. It’s been a long time since Google didn’t update the Blogger dashboard but now with the update, Blogger also made it clear that they are not going to kill Blogspot soon. So, ultimately it’s good news for everyone who uses the Blogger platform for their blogging purposes.

Not only Good news, but it comes with a disadvantage also which is related to the Favicon upload problem. Blogger recently changed the method which was followed by users to update their Favicon for their Blogs.

Here are 3 ways which you can use to update the Favicon of your Blogger blog:

1. The New Direct Method for Favicon upload

Blogger provides users with the simplest method for Favicon upload which is simple and can be done via its settings section.

Note: The uploaded image should be square and below 100KB in size.

2. Changing Favicon by using Blogger Favicon Change link

This is one of the most used methods right now because Blogger discontinued Favicon upload via the layout options. You just simply need to open the link given below edited with your blog ID.

How to get your Blog ID?

Just open your Blogger dashboard and you will see your blog ID in your address bar. You may also see an example in the below picture.

Just copy your Blog ID and replace it with YOURBLOGID in the below link and just open it in your browser with your Blogger account signed in.

Now you will see a new window that will have the option to upload Favicon for your desired blog.

Just upload your Favicon file and press Save and that’s it! You have successfully uploaded Favicon for your Blog.

3. Using HTML to upload your Favicon

This is the widely used method to show Favicon in all the platforms including Blogger. In this method, we need to follow two steps which include uploading of Favicon file to any host or Blogger/Google images and editing the HTML of the Blog to insert Favicon to it. Follow all the steps given below in the pictorial format.

3.1. Sign in to your blogger dashboard then click on Pages and then click on + sign in the lower right side.

3.2. A new window will open where you need to upload your Favicon image file so that it gets stored on your Blogger database.

3.3. Now after uploading the Favicon picture in the Blogger click on < > which will open HTML view of the post. Now you need to copy the Image URL which you have uploaded. It’s your wish to publish that page for future purposes which will have no harm.

3.4. Now again click on Theme and then click on three Dots as shown in the below picture and then click on EDIT HTML.

3.5. Now copy the metatags given below and past it above the <b:skin>
<link href=’YOURIMAGEURL‘ rel=’icon’/>
<link href=’YOURIMAGEURL‘ rel=’shortcut icon’ type=’image/x-icon’/>

3.6.  After pasting the metatags from the previous step now change YOURIMAGEURL with your Favicon image URL which got while uploading it to the Pages section. After replacing YOURIMAGEURL with your Favicon image URL just click on the Save button given in the right downward side of the window.

That’s it for this topic. I shared all the three possible ways to change or upload FAVICON for your Blogger which includes both old and new methods which is much needed after Blogger’s 2020 dashboard update.
